Doggy Love from Crest at Park Central Luxury Apartments in Dallas
Crest at Park Central offers apartments Dallas pet lovers can call home. Pets get special treatment here with services like Mobile Pet Grooming, Dog Walking and Monthly Yappy Hours. We know that our residents are busy since we have apartments near Medical City Dallas Hospital, Texas Instruments and State Farm Campus. Furry friends who stay home while their owners are away need places to play at the end of the day, and we try to provide those places. We don’t discriminate between cats and dogs, both are welcome. Although, the team at Crest at Park Central luxury Apartments in Dallas knows that there can be a difference of opinions on the subject.
For some people, there is only one question to ask on a first date. Is the person sitting across from me dog person or a cat person? This is often a no-brainer in our state. Texas is one of four states where there are at least 15% more dog owners than cat owners. In fact, there are only nine states in the U.S. where cat owners outnumber dog owners and seven of those states are in the Northeast. Down here though, dogs rule and cats…are outnumbered.
There are plenty of benefits to owning cats, even if most of Texas disagrees. For starters, cats never require walks in the park. Cats never bark at the mailman either, and we have yet to see a cat chase a car down the street. Although cats cannot offer the same kind of protection as a full grown dog, they make up for that by being small enough to pick up. It’s a trade off between security and cuddliness.
Yes, cats are less of a hassle, but they rarely get the same kind of love and appreciation as dogs. For instance, there is a massive event happening in Dallas on Saturday, October 22nd dedicated entirely to all things canine.
Operation Kindness Dog Day Afternoon was supposed to take place on June 4th, but rain forced the event to move to October 22nd from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. So those of you who had no idea this awesome event was happening are in luck.
Operation Kindness is the largest no-kill shelter in Texas, and they’re celebrating their 40th anniversary with this event at Flagpole Hill near White Rock Lake. Part of the day’s events include a world record attempt. World record for what, you ask? The world’s largest dog cake of course. Blue Buffalo Catering will be creating and serving a dog cake that will weigh more than 170 lbs. All furry friends are invited to dig into the cake, and the first 100 dogs to show up get to eat their cake out of a commemorative Blue Buffalo dog bowl. Humans get treats too, in the form of food trucks and free goodie bags to the first 1,000 people to show up. It’s not often that you and your dog get the chance to be a part of a Guinness World Record, so we recommend jumping at this opportunity while you have the chance.
Additional highlights of Operation Kindness Dog Day Afternoon include:
- Free “Ask the Vet” tent featuring Cityvet of Addison
- Canine contests for trophies and prizes including: Best Costume, Stupid Pet Tricks and Best Pooch Smooch, sponsored by Natural Balance Pet Foods
- Mutt Midway with dozens of vendors selling a wide variety of pet-related merchandise, puppy kissing booth and games with prizes
- Doggie splash pools to beat the heat
- Free microchipping for the first 125 dogs, sponsored by Pethealth Inc.
